Gloria, a psychedelic rock “girl group”, has been revisiting echoes of the past for several years, blending modernity with retro references. Driven by the bewitching voices of Wendy Martinez, Amy Winterbotham and Marie-Louise Bourgeois, and under the direction of guitarist-producer Kid Victrola, the band transcends genres.
Their sonic universe, somewhere between raw garage, celestial pop and even mystical folk, summons the spirits of 60'stout rock while letting Motown soul and the cheekiness of 90's indie rock resonate. A famous witches' brew, a pot of fuzz and vocal harmonies, the band's trademark.
Since their remarkable debut album, In Excelsis Stereo (2016), an EP in 2018 and their second opus, Sabbat Matters (2021), all released by Howlin'Banana, Gloria has performed on European stages alongside Altin Gün, The Soundcarriers, Juniore or Slift, been filmed by KEXP and heard on the AMC series Lodge 49,all the while making their mark with their trio of front women, the famous 3-headed singing hydra.
In 2025, Gloria returns with a third album (Howlin'Banana/Wita Records) inspired by ancient mythology, where muses and divinities invite themselves into their world. More rock and disenchanted, this opus pays tribute to the thematic records of the 60's while exploring new horizons. Each track is an irreverent offering to the gods of Olympus, and the album as a whole celebrates multiplicity, a whole greater than the sum of its parts. In the shadow of the 60s garage temple, Gloria continues to invent the future from the past.
